Consecrated and some lay members of our community have been trained in the Carmelite traditions of spiritual guidance. As in all our ministries, our approach to those seeking spiritual guidance is one of service. By interacting with others in a spirit of service, we seek to eliminate any sense of indebtedness to a person who has in some way helped or given to us. It is with fraternal charity that we unconditionally present ourselves in service to people. This allows us to serve God’s people as equals, recognizing the blessings that our lives are to one another. Spiritual guidance is held in complete confidentiality, and with respect and reverence for each person served, as they are an image of Christ to us.

A Spiritual Guide focuses on guiding the individual to self-discovery through the unconditional love and acceptance of their own human condition and personal identity. This liberating experience enables the person receiving guidance to begin the spiritual journey that is in direct relation to the teachings of the Gospel and the wisdom of Sts. Teresa of Avila and John of the Cross. Essential to their spiritual growth and development is an eagerness to embrace holiness through their humanness. This includes a willingness to accept the Truth and a mature responsibility for creating their own balance of soul, mind and body.

Individuals and families are offered one-time or ongoing spiritual guidance from our consecrated and lay associate members. This time is offered to support, encourage and share our spiritual journey with others. Some seeking spiritual guidance come on a weekly, bi-weekly or monthly schedule. Frequently individuals, who have come to our House of Prayer, will ask for a consecrated person to listen to and support them during a difficult time. We strive to be available to God’s people and to serve as reminders of His consistency and infinite love for them.
